Surely, many internet users very often encountered the so-called copyright sign – the letter “C” in a circle. Today we consider its functions, application and value.
The copyright icon includes three elements:
- English letter “C” in a circle;
- The name (title) of the right holder;
- Year of first publication of the work.
It should be borne in mind that only three of these links are used in aggregate and such a sequence, and not just one letter “C” in a circle. Thus, the copyright looks like this: “© 2018 Arag.am. All rights reserved”. In practice, the date of the first publication and the current year are often indicated. Example: “© GROM LLC 20017-2018”. On web pages, the copyright mark is placed at the bottom (as the site is also subject to copyright).
How to put a copyright mark?
- To write copyright, namely its main symbol – “©” is possible in three ways:
- Put the character “c” in brackets. This can be done on a regular keyboard. The result will be: “(c)”. This option is widely used.
- In the MS Word, you can turn on the English layout and Num Lock (additional keyboard on the right). After that, hold down the right Alt and enter the combination on the right keyboard: 0169. So we get the icon.
- In the MS Word you can also go to the “insert” tab, press “Insert Symbol”, find the copyright mark and add it to the text.
However, it is not difficult to copy the main character from the Internet and then paste it. The following will turn out: “©“. This method is also common.
According to the Bern Convention, any copyrighted work is protected during the creation of copyright, so even if there is this sign ©, copyright is valid.
